Bohemia Temple Earrings
$315.00 USD
These earrings take their inspiration from temple rings (náušnice) worn by Western Slavic women in the area of Europe that is now known as the Czech Republic but was once part of the Great Moravian Empire. Archaeological finds from the 9th century include many temple rings ranging in design from the very simple to extravagantly decorative examples. Temple rings are so-named because they were worn at the temples, and hung from specially made headdresses or fabric head scarves.
These sterling silver earrings are a modern, graphic take on the Medieval original. Like their predecessors, they frame the face well and catch the light as you move. Although heavier than our usual earring offerings, these are comfortable enough to wear all day. Please note that these earrings do not really make much sound as the silver discs do mot ring when struck.
